12 subjects in 2012

Okay. Here's the plan.

I'm gonna research one thing a month for the coming year.

January will be physics. Cause physics is awesome. I am woefully ignorant of just how awesome it is though so I will attempt to very slightly dent that ignorance for the next 31 days.

To recap:

nurture vs nature

Eatin' stuff on a Tuesday. I do it.

So I bought some wasabi arugula at Trader Joe's. Cause wasabi is awesome and I'm trying to eat more green stuff. It's so good! I was just snacking on it out of the bag. I am not a snack on leaves kind of person normally. But dang, these are tasty. So i tossed em up with some avocado, shaved carrot and goat cheese. Oh and balsamic vinaigrette. Yep. I ate it. Aaaand now I'm telling my internet that I made a salad. Hm. Somehow I don't think I am cut out for this whole blogging thing. Luckily nobody reads it and one thing I definitely am cut out for is talking to myself.

So I've got that going for me.

But really.

i was never much of a musician.

i love music though.

i used to play piano when i was little and pretty much the only thing i wanted to learn was chopin's death march. so i did. mostly.

i decided to do a little tribute to the man and he was so earnest looking.

he had something to say.

i painted this way back in 03 but i just recently sold it.
it's interesting to me the way watching people interact with my work changes how i feel about it.

i find that even if i disagree with what they say or how they feel that reaction becomes a part of the work from then on. positive or negative.

 like finding out the lead singer of your favorite band is a super-douche. just can't love those songs quite the same.

manifesto

goals. it's good to have them, right?
mine are pretty simple:

1. make things every day.
2. keep a roof over my head and the utilities on.
3. connect with others + feel a sense of community.
4. don't be too much of a dick to my fellow humans.

some of these are deceptively difficult to manage day to day.

what am i doing with a blog? i'm not too sure.
i think mostly i just want a place to feel accountable.
check my progress. things in the vast space of the internet that nobody reads.
it's comforting in a way.
